
Susan Henley is an accomplished Canadian stage and screen actor with a career spanning over 45 years in the performing arts. Known for her versatility in both musical theatre and drama, she has performed in major productions across North America and is a mainstay in the Canadian theatre community.
Stratford Festival and Stage Career
Henley spent three seasons at the Stratford Festival, Canada’s premier Shakespearean and classical theatre venue. Her work there is highlighted by her performance in the musical Irma La Douce, where she played the title character, Irma.
Beyond Stratford, her extensive theatre credits include:
• Charlottetown Festival: Seven seasons, notably playing Marilla in Anne of Green Gables at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
• Mirvish Productions: Performing as Velma Von Tussel in the Canadian premiere and the first U.S. National Tour of Hairspray.
• Recent Work: In 2025, she starred as Vera in Alan Doyle’s Tell Tale Harbour at Mirvish’s Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.

Henley is a Dora Mavor Moore Award winner, an honour she received for her work in the musical Closer Than Ever. She frequently performs in cabarets alongside her musical partner, pianist Patti Loach.
She is married to fellow Canadian actor Michael Hanrahan, with whom she has two sons, including actor Lyndon Henley Hanrahan.
